Guide
Sorano is a small, sleepy, medieval town nestled in the river valleys of Southern Tuscany. While there is a trickle of tourists, the town has largely been forgotten and remains a diamond in the rough. Visitors have long struggled to navigate its winding streets and understand what makes Sorano special. This guide sought to change all that.
Front Side
It's hard to believe but this was the first time anyone had created a map with every street in the old town. The most important locations were featured with local information not found in Google Maps or guide books. Along the sides one finds anthropological information about Sorano's unique culture and the history which it's rooted in. Practical information was also necessary as Sorano's authenticity can make it difficult to navigate as a non-Italian speaking visitor.
Back Side
The back side of the map focused exclusively on the rich nature surrounding Sorano. The trails are well curated and the scenery is truly unparalleled however a casual tourist often doesn't realise how accessible it is. By scanning the QR codes, visitors can navigate trails with a live GPS location and read about the ancient history of the hiking paths.
